AkzoNobel: Actors in the sustainability work
By Johan Widheden, Sofia Petersson & Sandra Bodén
The AkzoNobels organization for sustainable development is constituted of:
- a Sustainability council
- Business Unit Managers and Sustainability focal points
- a Sustainability sourcing team
- a Sustainable Development group
The purpose of the Sustainability council is to monitor the sustainability integration process, to embed sustainability in the regular management cycle, to measure progress and to advise the Board of Management on AkzoNobel’s sustainability strategy. The council consists of the CEO, Business Unit managers and Managers of all functions such as HR, sourcing and sustainability.
Each Business Unit Managing Director defines their own non-financial targets and has appointed a Sustainability focal point to support the embedding of sustainability throughout their business.
A team, called Sustainability in sourcing is dedicated to establish sustainability in the choice and audit of suppliers.
The AkzoNobel Sustainability is a group giving technical advice, tools and training on sustainability as well as communicating sustainability within the company.
